DOLE Hits Two Birds with GIP in Meycauayan

DOLE's Government Internship Program (GIP) is achieving remarkable gains in its tie-up with the DEPED Alternative Learning System (ALS) in Meycauayan City as 29 interns with two years of college credit teach a total of 1,745 students at the usually understaffed 11 ALS Centers for Meycauayan East thus making it a two-fold gain in learning for both teaching interns and ALS students. District ALS Coordinator Alicia B. Lorenzo was very much heartened about the extent of coverage the program affords them to reach those who had dropped out of school. The interns are deployed at the following ALS centers: 5 interns at Saluysoy Central School for 429 students; 3 interns at Calvario Brgy. Hall for 163 students; 2 interns at Libtong Elementary School for 132 students; 2 interns at Malhacan Brgy. Hall for 76 students; 2 interns at Perez for 32 students; 2 interns at Meycauayan West Central School for 316 students; 3 interns at Bayugo Elementary School for 316 students; 2 interns at  Caingin for 25 students; 2 interns at Liputan Elementary School for 35 students; 2 interns at Bancal Elementary School for 71 students; and 2 interns at Lawa Elementary School for 150 students.

Meanwhile 15 GIP participants at Marilao are working at the LGU. Click here regarding the DOLE-GIP, which began in in the 4th District of Bulacan on February 2015 and will cover eight months with every intern working 8 hour-days with allowance.  DOLE's Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged workers (TUPAD) Program  shall also roll out for 500 beneficiaries of Meycauayan City in September 2015. Over a thousand from the 4th District benefited from the TUPAD Program in 2014.  Click here for  Guidelines on the DOLE-TUPAD.
