  • Over 800 women participated in the seminar-workshop on Women & Disasters organized by the House Committee on Women & Gender Equality led by Chairperson  Linabelle Villarica in Meycauayan City. Speakers included DSWD- Region III Regional Director Gemma Borja-Gabuya and West Visayas State University's GAD Coordinator Dr. Mary Ann De la Vega, who introduced how evacuation centers can become gender-sensitive and what are the best practices to lessen the vulnerability of women during disasters.

  • Brand-new Amphibious Excavator first requested from the DPWH by Rep. Villarica on 17 August 2010 was bought by the agency under CY 2012 Procurement Program, and finally inaugurated and commissioned for the dredging of the Marilao-Meycauayan-Obando River System on 16 April 2015. In ceremonies with Rep. Villarica (center in yellow) are Meycauayan City Vice Mayor Jojo Manzano (on her right), Atty. Henry R. Villarica (behind, on her left), DPWH Engr. Edgardo C. Pingol (2nd fr. right) and the City Councilors.

Foreign Investment

On 27 May 2015, the House of Representatives approved on second reading, Resolution of Both Houses No. 1 which seeks to amend certain economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution. 

The proposed amendments do not automatically remove the foreign ownership and participation limits provided in the Constitution. However it gives Congress the power to pass a law that will allow foreign participation in the exploration, development and utilization of natural resources, the holding of private lands, the operation of public utilities, the ownership of educational institutions and ownership and management of mass media, among others.
